I nearly forgot to write this post. I’ve got all these posts partially written, but I just don’t have to drive to finish them, but that’s another post for another day. Today it’s all about Mr. Maxwell, who is 14 months old.
These days The Boy can be found running, (yes, running) while pushing his walker, shrieking and chasing after poor Rita. Lately he is so fascinated by her. So much so that I actually fear that he might kill her. He ‘shares’ his toys with her by dropping them on her head (If you don’t know, Rita is a nearly 8 year old Apple Head Chihuahua who is a medical marvel. Her fontanel never closed, she’s got water on the brain and she’s just plain dumb.), he pins her against the wall with his walker, and lately he grabs her head and squeezes it. I scold him with my sternest NO, and he laughs hysterically. I’m dead serious. I don’t know what to do. I’m truly afraid he’s going to kill her, and I really don’t want him to be that kid.Rob and I are convinced that he’ll be pushing his walker across the stage at his high school graduation.
Other things: He has a new nickname and it is Rhino Baby. He is becoming an aggressive snuggler. Meaning he charges you with his giant baby head while cooing and drooling, and it’s adorable and painful and precious. Favorite toys are whatever is in our recycling bin for him to throw in the garbage can. He doesn’t really get the whole recycling thing yet. Oh, and knocking the garbage can over, that’s fun too. Some more favorite things are skipping naps, doing headstands, getting dirty, throwing things, and hitting. Yes, hitting is becoming a bit of an issue and I’m not quite sure what to do about it.
The poor Max has spent the last few days being sick. The first thing that tipped us off was that he had fallen asleep half standing up on Rob (top left photo). He had a fever of 103.2, and lots of bad poops. So bad and so frequent that he’s got this wicked diaper rash, and we’ve acquired just about every brand of diaper cream out there, and NOTHING IS WORKING. The poor kid won’t even sit it hurts so bad. Cross your fingers that this thing clears up real soon because diaper changes are torturous. Now that he stands on his own (when he feels like it) I’m going to have him stand for his photos. Or sit. Whatever.
